Workshops
In addition to its regular training schedule, Hsin Lu Tao Academy of Martial Arts makes available the following services for your safety and education.
You may attend one or several of our scheduled workshops (see below) or you may schedule a private workshop for your group, business or government agency by calling (915) 856-6560 or by using our convenient contact us form.
Our scheduled workshops are all held at our new premises conveniently located at 11444 Rojas Dr., El Paso, Texas 79936. You do not need to be enrolled in, or hold a membership with, Hsin Lu Tao Academy of Martial Arts or Hsin Lu International in order to attend.
Most of the workshops for children are sponsored free-of-charge. *
(Please see our Donations page at the Women's Personal Defense Center web site if you would like to help sponsor any of our workshops for teen girls in at-risk relationships, personal defense training scholarships to needy children and teens, and after school training programs provided through AmeriCorps and the YWCA that teach children the fundamentals of personal safety, anger-management, and the how-to’s of coping with bullying.)
Please note that payments made through PayPal below are processed through our Hsin Lu Tao Academy of Martial Arts account. Your billing statement will reflect payments as being made to "PAYPAL*HSINLUINT" or "PAYPAL*HSINLUINTERNATIONAL" (some credit card processors may truncate or shorten these names).
For most workshops, the Information you enter via the PayPal checkout process will constitute your event registration form. Please be sure to save and print out the confirmation receipt you receive from the PayPal receipt page and/or PayPal email receipt and bring it to the workshop as proof of paid registration for yourself and any other parties for which you have paid and who will be attending.
If you are uncomfortable with submitting your payment information online, services may also be purchased in person at our offices, by phone (915-856-6560), or mail.
ADULTS & TEENS
Women’s Personal Defense (WPD) Workshop Level 1
Teaching the fundamental principles of personal defense, this workshop includes training in awareness & prevention, correct assessment of a potentially dangerous situation, the importance of mindset, safety procedures, and accurate application of powerful but simple techniques in the event of an assault.
Price for the WPD Workshop is $50.00 per person. There is a 10% discount for a group of 10, with the total cost (for 10) of $450.00.
IMPORTANT: All payments for the WPD Workshop are non-refundable. Should attendance for the current workshop be impossible or problematic, paid attendance may be rescheduled for the next available workshop date provided we are notified at least 24 hours prior to the current workshop date for which fees were paid. All planned attendance must be prepaid at least 24 hours in advance of the event date. All workshops must be prepaid at least 5 days in advance of the event date.

Women’s Personal Defense (WPD) Workshop Level 2
Prerequisite: Women's Personal Defense Workshop Level 1
As a vital follow-up to the basic Women’s Personal Defense Workshop Level 1, the WPD Workshop Level 2 underscores the awareness platform and infuses real-life scenarios and critical threat assessment into the practice of personal defense. For example:
You are leaving the grocery store with a bag of groceries and are attacked from behind. What do you do? What resources are immediately available to you that you can (and should) use?
Or, as another example:
You are in your home when an assault occurs, perpetrated by either your significant other or an unknown assailant. You have two children asleep in their room. What do you do? Are you making use of what is in your environment? Do you leave and call for help, or do you stay with your children?
Price for the WPD Workshop Level 2 is $50.00 per person. There is a 10% discount for a group of 10, with the total cost (for 10) of $450.00.

Teens Against Dating Violence Workshop
This workshop specifically targets teens and teaches the warning signs of teen dating violence. Coupling helpful indications of a relationship on the wrong track with safeguarding personal esteem, teens are given the tools to improve their awareness and prevent violence by an intimate. They are also taught defense techniques against an attack or rape should a confrontation or life-situation escalate into an assault that is imminent.
Price for the Teens Against Dating Violence Workshop is $50.00 per person. There is a 10% discount for a group of 10, with the total cost (for 10) of $450.00.
IMPORTANT: All payments for the Teens Against Dating Violence Workshop are non-refundable. Should unplanned-for difficulties arise, this prepaid workshop may be rescheduled provided at least one (1) week’s notice in advance of the scheduled date is given. All planned attendance must be prepaid at least 5 days in advance of the event date.

Intimate Enemies – Surviving Domestic Violence Workshop
About 75% of all lone-offender violence against women and 45% of violence involving multiple offenders was perpetuated by offenders whom the victim knew. This workshop covers the 10 Warning Signs of an Abusive Relationship, gives realistic recommendations on how to escape this kind of relationship, addresses prevention, mindset, self-esteem issues, and defensive physical survival of an encounter.
Price for the Surviving Domestic Violence Workshop is $50.00 per person. There is a 10% discount for a group of 10, with the total cost (for 10) of $450.00.

CORPORATE, GOVERNMENT, SCHOOLS
Awareness, De-escalation & Defense for Situational Control (ADDSCo)
Sensitive to administrative concerns and the legal pressures inherent within governmental social services, this program teaches employees of government agencies how to work within these legal limits and still insure personal safety while on the job. ADDSCo provides applicable instruction on situational awareness and control, de-escalation and soft-hand defense when and if necessary. It teaches individuals providing social services effective techniques for dealing with hostility and assessing potential violence in any situation.
A three hour course initiative is $500.00. (Maximum 100 participants.)
A six hour course initiative given over two days is $750.00 and includes Use of Force issues. (Maximum 100 participants.)

CHILDREN, AGES 5—12
Programs recommended for school children in any venue follow below. Schools, recreational centers and the like may contact us to arrange and schedule a program for your group. In most cases, these services are free of charge. *
BOB! (Back Off Bully)
Recommended for children ages 5 years to 12 years old, this program teaches children the two key components of a bully and gives valuable lessons on managing anger issues in self and with others along with “soft” techniques for insuring personal safety on and off school grounds.
YiKeS! (Yell, Kick, Scream)
This program targets 5 to 10 year olds and addresses personal safety issues. An abundance of drills and key catch phrases teach young ones to deal with a number of potentially dangerous situations.
WINS (Working in Natural Safety)
A program developed for 11 and 12 year olds, it addresses attitudes toward self and others, self-esteem matters, and “soft”-control for personal safety. This program can be tailored to suit younger children as well.
* Minimum of 20 and maximum of 100 participants per group for children's programs. Length of workshops will vary depending of number of participants.
